President Day 2021: Every year, third Monday of February is celebrated as President Day in the United States of America. This Year Presidents’ Day falls on 15, February 2021. It’s a federal holiday observed in US as a honor to the past and present presidents of the country. The great activities of the presidents who served the nation so far were commemorated on this day. As a remembrance of of President George Washington, the holiday became popularly known as Presidents’ Day. It was named after moving it as a part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act (which was called bring three-day weekend for US workers).
People started celebrating Washington’s Birthday I.e February 22 or third Monday as US federal holiday. The nation started celebrating this day after the construction of Gorge Washington’s monument in 1832 as a Mark of his remembrance. Though the day was observed much earlier, it became a federal holiday in 1870. In 1960, the day was renamed as Presidents’ Day under the act of Uniform Monday Holiday Act. Later all the federal holidays were moved to celebrate on Monday under the same Act.
Actually, Presidents’ Day never fall on the real birthday of any past or present American presidents but is celebrated on third Monday of February every year. Our beloved presidents named George Washington, William Henry Harrison, Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan—were born in February, but their birthdays may fall on different dates or coincide with the Presidents’ Day.
